HIGH BRIDGE, N.J. (September 7, 2011) - Fitzgerald Architecture Studio recently celebrated its 10th anniversary in business and the design firm has seen many changes in the last decade, but its dedication to their clients and community service remains steadfast.
"One of the great benefits of being in Hunterdon County is the opportunity to play a role in the community, to influence the lives of people we see everyday," said Thomas P. Fitzgerald, Principal of the Main Street design firm and a Califon resident. "From day one, my vision was for a firm that did the business of architecture a little better, but also played a role beyond the limitations of our business."
Fitzgerald Architecture has pursued the vision in many ways - from regular volunteer service with Habitat for Humanity to helping clients in times of crisis through Disaster Restoration Services, a sister company that helps families rebuild their homes when emergencies occur. Fitzgerald Architecture's team works together to assure that a quality, sensitive, appropriate solution is found for every client - from homeowner to facilities manager. The team works locally and regionally to improve every client's quality of life.
Beyond the design business, the team at Fitzgerald Architecture Studio takes great pride in their community involvement. Tom Fitzgerald currently serves as Vice Chairman of NORWESCAP, a Phillipsburg agency providing support services to families in need in Hunterdon, Morris, Somerset, Sussex and Warren counties, and has served on the organization's Board for six years. Fitzgerald Architecture Studio is also involved in Habitat for Humanity, having recently helped build a three-bedroom home for a family in the Borough of Washington. Other community endeavors have included the Open Cupboard Food Pantry, High Bridge Soap Box Derby, educational programs for a local chapter of the Boy Scouts of America and many more.
Fitzgerald said the firm has changed significantly in the last decade, growing from one architect focusing on residential services to what is now a team of five design professionals providing commercial, residential and disaster restoration services.
"We launched a sister company, Disaster Restoration Services, in 2005 to respond to what I really saw as an opportunity in the marketplace to create specialized design services focused on crisis projects," said Fitzgerald. "Families dealing with a disaster situation are really looking for professionals they can trust that quickly help get them back on their feet and that's what we have done."
Disaster Restoration Services has been so successful that Fitzgerald is expanding to other states, having recently opened an office in Buffalo, N.Y. with more regional offices on the way. The disaster service helped the firm survive the real estate development meltdown of the last three years.
"The economy really forced me to step away from my passion for home design a bit and focus on building the business relationships that would make Disaster Restoration Services a success," said Fitzgerald. "The strategy helped us get through some tough economic times."
The firm's commercial and residential design portfolio has continued to grow, completing projects throughout New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, from beautiful single-family homes to multi-family housing facilities, higher education and private academies to healthcare facilities and rehabilitation projects large and small.
"It has been a tremendous decade," said Fitzgerald, "and we look forward to many more years of both community collaboration, challenging projects and business partnership."
