Unity Bank Celebrates 20th Anniversary with Small Business Giveaways and Money Machine Contest

CLINTON, N.J. (October 13, 2011) - Unity Bank is celebrating its 20th Anniversary with two special community programs, including the Blizzard of 20s Contest where 14 lucky winners will have a chance to win up to $1,000 of the $14,000 in prize money. The winner of the contest in each branch will get 60 seconds inside the Unity Bank Blizzard of Dollars money machine trying to grasp as many 20s as possible.

Six finalists will be selected for the chance to enter the money machine and the five runners-up will receive $100 gas gift cards. There is no purchase required and the contest is open to legal residents of New Jersey and Pennsylvania, who meet eligibility requirements. For details please visit, www.unitybank.com/20.

"Community commitment has always been at the heart of our mission," said Unity Bank President James A. Hughes. "We wanted to engage the entire community in a fun way to celebrate an important milestone for Unity Bank, that's why the contest has been open to anyone."

Unity Bank, which specializes in business banking and provides the full scope of retail and consumer services, has also randomly selected nearly 30 of its small business customers to give away surprise token gifts to customers of the business.

"Our branch managers could be at the local pizzeria giving away slices of pizza or bagels at the local deli, at our expense," said Hughes. "Its just our way of showing business customers that 20 years later we are still the same community bank that wants to continue to be their partner. Hopefully, their customers enjoy the token and come back that much sooner."

Originally named First Community Bank, the company opened its doors for business September 16, 1991 with branches in Annandale and North Plainfield, changing its name to Unity Bank in 1999. Over the years, the bank has received numerous awards from the U.S. Small Business Administration for its commitment to business lending. Today, the bank manages over $818 million in assets and $655 million in deposits.

Unity Bank continually demonstrates its commitment to community through its philanthropic and volunteer endeavors. Through Volunteers Days, each bank employee volunteers at least one day a year in the community and bank officers participate in leadership roles in civic organizations. Unity Bank also sponsors many charitable endeavors, including its UCare program that enables non-profit organizations to receive quarterly donations.
