Unity Bank Finances Plainfield Subsidized Housing Development

CLINTON, N.J. (October 20, 2011) - Unity Bank has financed the latest Housing Authority of Plainfield (HAP) residential acquisition and revitalization project, providing financing for a duplex at 936 West Third Street in the city. As part of its commitment to partner with civic-minded organizations in the communities it serves, Unity Bank provided HAP with preferred financing terms.

The Plainfield Community Development Corporation (PCDC), a HAP affiliate, has now collaborated with the City of Plainfield to acquire and revitalize three properties on the 900 block of West Third Street to provide state-subsidized, low-income housing. PCDC plans to renovate two more properties on the block in the future.

"For 20 years, Unity Bank has been committed to fostering community development in the municipalities we serve," said Unity Bank President James A. Hughes. "Our strength lies in knowing who our customers are, what they do, what's important to them and what they need. That's the essence of being a community bank and we place great value on the relationships we build with organizations like PCDC, who are doing so much good work in the City of Plainfield."
