SOUTH PLAINFIELD, N.J. (February 14, 2012) - Unity Bank's South Plainfield branch recently sponsored a special Piscataway Rotary fundraiser that raised $6,000 to aid people in the Manville area that suffered flooding damage during Hurricane Irene.
The January 27th event attracted 175 people, said Piscataway Rotary Secretary Maria Hamilton, Assistant Vice President and Relationship Manager at Unity Bank's South Plainfield branch. The Hillsborough-Manville Elks Club donated its facility for the dinner and Unity Bank donated food. Ticket sales and donations from the Piscataway Rotary, Hillsborough-Manville Elks Club and an anonymous donor supported the Manville flood relief fund.
"We are thankful for this opportunity to partner with the Rotary and Elks to help the people of Manville," said Unity Bank President James A. Hughes. "We encourage our employees to be very active in the communities where they work and the fundraiser is just one of the many ways we try to make a difference."
