Unity Bank Car Show Raises $6,200 for The Arc and Family Promise

CLINTON, N.J. (July 25, 2012) - Unity Bank recently donated $6,200 to Family Promise of Hunterdon County, Inc. and the Arc of Hunterdon County, the proceeds from the 6th Annual Crusin' Bob's Classic Car Show. The funds were raised through sponsorships and registration fees to compete in the classic car competition as well as food sales during the event.

"The car show just gets more popular every year and that is definitely to the benefit of these two superb organizations," said Unity Bank President & CEO James A. Hughes. "Family Promise and Arc are vital to our community and we are privileged to partner with them. As a community bank, we take great pride in being able to support their important outreach programs."

Arc of Hunterdon County provides support, training and opportunities to persons with developmental disabilities, enabling them to achieve the greatest degree of independence and productivity and, in turn, become contributing, responsible, and proud members of society. The Arc mission includes supporting the families of those with developmental disabilities by enhancing the quality of life for all family members.

Family Promise is the only homeless shelter in Hunterdon County and provides services to both help overcome and prevent homelessness through the Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) - a network of 51 congregations and more than 1,000 volunteers who provide overnight/weekend shelter, home-cooked meals, and companionship to families who enter the program for an average of two months. Comprehensive case management, licensed counseling services and a donation program are also available.

Dickens Lane Jewelers & Wedding Center was the presenting sponsor for the car show and music was provided by Doctor D. Entertainment. The classic car owners competed for cash prizes in 10 different categories and the winners included: Antique to 1949 - Peter Havens, 1914 Model T Roadster; '50s Stock - Robert Babriecki, 1958 Mercury Park Lane; '60s Stock - Nelson Lee, 1962 Chevy Bel Air; '70s Stock - Joe Weirsky, 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS; '80s - 2012 Stock - Alex Scarselli, 2010 Dodge Challenger; Corvette - Tony Romanelli - 1965 Chevy Corvette; Street Rod - Grant Schibilia, 1937 Ford 3WC; Custom - Bill Gill, 1969 Chevy Camaro; Truck - Russell Thatcher, 1955 Chevy Cameo; and Motorcycle - Harvey Becker, 2003 Harley Davidson Trike.
