HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (April 2, 2013) - Unity Bank in partnership with the United Way Women's Leadership Center at Centenary College will present a free "Personal Finance" class Tuesday, April 16th from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the college's Ferry Hall, Room 11, 400 Jefferson Street. April is National Financial Literacy Awareness Month and the class is the first of a series designed to promote financial literacy.
The program is open to the public and will be presented by Vanessa Galante, Unity Bank Washington Branch Relationship Manager and Assistant Vice President, and Judy Cisco, Unity Bank Instructor. The first class will focus on budgeting and includes a classroom exercise that details sources of income versus expenses. Topics covered will include: how to decrease money out and increase money in; put yourself on a budget; determine financial goals; and work toward building up savings. Pre-registration is required as seating is limited. To register, please call Anna Hockenbury at 908-835-3550.
"United Way of Northern New Jersey has really worked tirelessly to both launch the women's resource center at the college, which just opened last month, and to initiate the finance lecture series," said Galante, who serves as co-chairwoman of the United Way Women's Leadership Council in Warren County. "Financial literacy is as important today as it is to learn to read and write. Unity Bank looks forward to partnering with United Way and Centenary College in providing the public with educational resources to help manage this growing concern."
