CLINTON, N.J. (July 17, 2013) - Unity Bank recently donated $6,700 to Family Promise of Hunterdon County and Family Promise of Warren County, the proceeds from the 7th Annual Crusin' Bob's Classic Car Show. The funds were raised through sponsorships, food sales and registration fees to compete in the classic car competition, which drew a record 121 registered cars.
"We are thrilled that the car show gets more popular every year because it helps two very important community organizations," said Unity Bank President & CEO James A. Hughes. "Both the funds raised by the car show and attendance at the event increased, which helps raise awareness and makes a big difference to the people who receive services through Family Promise in Hunterdon and Warren counties. As a community bank, we are privileged to partner with Family Promise and we take great pride in being able to support their important outreach programs."
Family Promise of Hunterdon County and Family Promise of Warren County provide services to both help overcome and prevent homelessness through the Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) - a network of congregations and volunteers who provide overnight/weekend shelter, home-cooked meals, and companionship to families who enter the program. Comprehensive case management, licensed counseling services and a donation program are also available.
The car show was a true community effort with Dickens Jewelers serving as presenting sponsor, Doctor D. Entertainment providing music and the Knights of Columbus cooking food.
The classic car owners competed for cash prizes in 10 different categories and the winners included: Antique to 1949 - Tom Peterson, 1930 Ford A-Cabriolet; '50s Stock - John Polomchak, 1956 Chevy Bel-Air; '60s Stock - Lydia Schmidt, 1960 Chevy Impala; '70s Stock - Dan Kennedy, 1972 Chevy Chevelle; '80s - 2013 Stock - Bob Juba, 2002 Chrysler Prowler; Corvette - Charlie Busnack, 1957 Chevy Corvette; Street Rod - Bob & Connie Wooten, 1933 Ford "8"; Custom - Rob Rabovin, 1972 Chevy Nova; Truck - Russell Thatcher, 1955 Chevy Corvair PU; and Motorcycle - Harvey Becker, 2003 Harley Davidson Sportster Trike.
