CLINTON (December 19, 2013) - Unity Bank and its employees will donate a total of $21,000 to 15 food pantries in Central Jersey and Easton, Pa. this month, one service organization for each Unity branch. The funds, which represent a 50 percent increase over the previous campaign, were donated by Unity Bank employees and matched by the bank as part of a special holiday community service project.
"Particularly during the holidays, it's important that we make every effort to support these important community organizations," said Unity Bank President & CEO James A. Hughes. "I am very proud of the generosity our employees displayed during this annual fundraising campaign as it speaks to their willingness to help the people in the communities where we do business. As a community bank, part of our mission is to support those less fortunate and this fundraising campaign is just one example of our commitment in this area."
In the coming weeks, $1,400 checks will be presented to: Community Food Pantry of Washington from Unity's Washington Branch; Fish, Inc. - Dunellen Area from Middlesex Branch; Flemington Area Food Pantry from Flemington Branch; The Food Bank Network of Somerset County, Inc. in Bound Brook from North Plainfield Branch; Franklin Township Food Bank from Somerset Branch; Highland Park Community Food Pantry from Highland Park Branch; Home First Interfaith Housing & Family Services of Plainfield from Scotch Plains Branch; Linden Interfaith Network for Community Service from Linden Branch; Meals on Wheels of Flemington from Clinton Branch; NORWESCAP Food Bank of Phillipsburg from Phillipsburg Branch; ProJect of Easton from Forks Township Branch; Readington Area Starfish from Whitehouse Branch; South Plainfield Social Services Holiday Project from South Plainfield Branch; St. James Food Pantry & Soup Kitchen in Edison from Edison Branch; and Union Food Pantry from Union Branch.
