NEW HOPE, Pa. (June 10, 2015) - Unity Bank has provided a $525,000 commercial loan to Alpha Land Management to support the recent opening of Nektar, an upscale wine bar and restaurant at 8 Mechanic Street, the site of the former Wildflowers Garden Restaurant.
Nektar owners Nick and Jannie Gialias, New Hope residents since 2007, acquired the property in July and started renovations in October after receiving all town approvals.
"I have been thinking about opening Nektar for some time," said Nick Gialias, who serves on the Town Council. "I finally found the perfect property for my idea and I started pursuing the business immediately. Nektar is designed to serve the local community. I felt there was a large portion of the local population that wasn't being catered to and saw this as an opportunity to add a business worthy of our great community."
Gialias is a sommelier trained in food pairings who managed the Logan Inn for seven years. He also graduated from Drexel University with a mechanical engineering degree and Carnegie Mellon University with a graduate degree in computer/bio-medical engineering.
The Mechanic Street property was completely renovated and expanded. Nektar features a contemporary industrial décor as well as a glass-enclosed structure to the back of the building with views of the Bucks County Playhouse and Delaware River. "The floor to ceiling glass walls open on all three sides of the vaulted patio area," said Gialias, "giving the space a remarkable open-air feel that is unmatched in style and atmosphere."
"My family has a long relationship with Unity Bank and they've always come through for us when we needed it," the former Alpha, N.J. resident said of turning to Unity Bank to finance the venture. "Our customer experience with Unity Bank has always been great."
The 2,050-square-foot restaurant seats 87 and is open year round at Noon and is closed on Mondays. A formal grand opening event will be planned for later in the year. For more information, please visit nektarnewhope.com or call (267) 743-2109.
